COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Has 36 years of coaching experience, primarily coaching the offensive line and also spending 15 years as an offensive coordinator.
• Under Summer’s direction in 2015, the Florida offensive line helped produce the Gators’ ninth 1,000-yard rusher in program history.
• Taylor’s 259 carries in 2015 behind the O-Line were the second-most by a Gator in a single season. Only Emmitt Smith (284 in 1989) logged more rushing attempts in a single campaign.
• On that same token, the Gators started the same five offensive linemen (Cam Dillard, Mason Halter, Antonio Riles, David Sharpe, Trip Thurman) at the same five positions in their first six games of last season, marking the first time since 2008 they achieved such continuity.
• In his first season at Florida, the offensive line was one of the most consistent groups on the squad. The unit allowed just 16 sacks on the season, third-fewest in the SEC.
• The UF offense averaged 187.7 rushing yards per game, topping the 200-yard mark five times in 12 games. Against Georgia, the Gators rushed for 418 yards against a defense that had previously allowed just 105.1 yards per game.
• Spent one season at USC, helping the Trojans to a 10-4 season and victory in the Las Vegas Bowl. USC finished the season ranked 19th in the polls.
• Helped lead an Arkansas offense that ranked first in the Southeastern Conference in scoring in 2009 and won the 2010 AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
• Coached center Jonathan Luigs, a 2008 Rimington Trophy finalist, and Mitch Petrus, a 2009 first-team All-SEC selection – both of whom went on to play in the NFL.
• In 2006, his Louisville offensive line paved the way for the Cardinals offense, ranking second nationally (475.3), seventh in passing (290.0) and 12th in rushing (185.3).
• Three of his linemen (Renardo Foster, Kurt Quarterman and George Bussey) were All-Big East First Team picks.
• The 2004 line helped the Louisville offense set school records with 6,468 total yards, 3,005 rushing yards, 597 points and 47 rushing TDs. The Cardinals led the nation in both total offense (539.0) and scoring offense (49.8).
• In 2003, the Cards set a then-school rushing record while ranking fifth nationally in total offense (488.9) and 10th in rushing offense (228.2).
• Two offensive linemen, Jason Spitz and Travis Leffew, were All-Conference USA first-team in 2004 and All-Big East first team in 2005.
• During his tenure, Louisville won the 2004 Conference USA Championship and 2006 Big East title, and played in the 2007 Orange Bowl, 2006 Gator Bowl, 2004 Liberty Bowl and 2003 GMAC Bowl. The 2004 and 2006 Cardinal teams both finished ranked No. 6 by AP.
• In two seasons at Ohio (2001-02), the Bobcats ranked sixth nationally in rushing offense (240.1 ypg) in 2001 and eighth in 2002 (239.8 ypg).
• Summers produced top-five ranked rushing and total offenses in the conference while at the University of the South for four seasons.
• Oregon State led the Pac-10 in rushing four times under Summers. He was named the league's top "Offensive Backfield Coach" in 1993.
• While offensive coordinator at Northern Illinois for six seasons (1985-90), his offense established 51 school records and seven NCAA marks.

FLORIDA

• OL MAX GARCIA – As a senior in 2014, he was named Second Team All-SEC in his first-ever season playing center. Named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List and earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.

 
ARKANSAS

• OL JONATHAN LUIGS – 2007 All-American and winner of the 2007 Rimington Trophy. Three-time All-SEC selection and co-recipient of the 2007 Jacobs Blocking Trophy. Named to Arkansas’ 2000-09 All-Decade Team. Drafted in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals.
• OL MITCH PETRUS – Two-time All-SEC selection, including a First Team pick in 2009. Named to Arkansas’ 2000-09 All-Decade Team.

 
LOUISVILLE

• OL TRAVIS LEFFEW – Third Team All-American in 2004 and First Team All-Conference USA the same year. Second Team All-CUSA in 2003.
• OL KURT QUARTERMAN – Honorable Mention All-American in 2006 and First Team All-Big East the same year. Signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons.
• OL ERIC WOOD – Freshman All-American in 2005 and Second Team All-Big East in 2006. First Team All-Big East in both 2007 and 2008. Drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

 
NORTHERN ILLINOIS

• OL TED KARAMANOS – Named an AP Honorable Mention All-American in 1987 and was NIU’s MVP the same year. Signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins but
• OL TODD PEAT – Named AP Honorable Mention All-American in 1985 as well as First Team All-MAC. In 1986, was selected as an AP Third Team All-American. Member of the NFL’s All-Rookie Team in 1987.
• QB STACEY ROBINSON – Honorable Mention All-American in 1989 and 1990. Rushed for an NCAA record 308 yards against Fresno State in 1990, the most-ever at the time by a quarterback in a single game.

 
OREGON STATE

• OL FLETCHER KEISTER – Team Co-Captain and named First Team All-Pac-10 in 1992 as well as a Third Team AP All-American. Also named the team’s MVP for the season. Signed a free agent contract with the Houston Oilers.
