CJ Wilford

CJ Wilford enters his fourth season with the Gators staff after being hired in the position of quality control prior to the 2022 season.
 
He spent three seasons (2019-21) at Louisiana in the roles of defensive backs quality control assistant his first two years (2019-20) and was a nickels and safeties graduate assistant this past season. Wilford helped the Ragin' Cajuns ranked 3rd in interceptions (16) in 2020, 11th in the country in scoring defense (18.5 ppg) and 15th in fewest passing yards allowed per game at 190.1 in 2019.
 
Wilford arrived at UL after three years (2016-18) at Southern Utah where he was a defensive assistant for two seasons (2016-17) and the inside linebackers coach his final season. He was part of the Thunderbirds 2017 Big Sky Championship and tied for the FCS leader in interceptions with 15. In his final year, he became the youngest full-time division one position coach at 23-years-old in the county and mentored Second-Team All-Big Sky selection Taylor Nelson.
 
A native of Moorpark, Calif., he played two seasons (2014-15) at Ventura Junior College.
