Jamar Chaney enters his third season with the Gators and his second as a defensive analyst – inside linebackers/outside linebackers under Head Coach Billy Napier. Chaney spent the 2019 season as an assistant director of player personnel for the Gators, his first stop collegiately.
Prior to his stop with the Gators in 2019, he was the head coach of his alma mater, St. Louice West Centennial high school in 2018. He led the program to a 11-8-1 and its first playoff appearance in seven seasons.
A former linebacker at Mississippi State, he has spent the last two seasons (2020-21) on staff with the Bulldogs as a senior defensive analyst. Chaney worked with four NFL draft picks in Starkville with Brian Cole II (Minnesota), Cameron Dantzler (Minnesota), Willie Gay (Kansas City) and Marquiss Spencer (Denver).
The Fort Pierce, Florida native, Chaney played for MSU from 2005-09. He played in 49 career games and totaled 286 tackles, including 11 for a loss and six sacks. Chaney earned All-SEC honors his junior year (2007), he led the Bulldogs in tackles with 89.
He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles where he spent three seasons and recorded 16 tackles (12 solo) in his first career start. Chaney also had stints with the Atlanta Falcons (2013), Denver Broncos (2014) and Las Vegas Raiders (2014).
