2018 (Freshman): Began the season as a key member of Florida’s special teams units and a reserve defensive back… After Marco Wilson sustained a season-ending injury against Kentucky (Sept. 8), Dean moved into a prominent role and started nine of the final 10 games… Tallied 26 tackles, 0.5 tackles-for-loss, one interception and six passes defensed… Ranked second on the team in pass breakups with six… Notched his first-career interception at Florida State (Nov. 24) and returned it 44 yards… Totaled a season-high four tackles against Michigan (Dec. 29) in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl... PRIOR TO FLORIDA:
Selected to participate in the 2017 Under Armour All-American Game… Had two pass breakups and one tackle in the game… In 19 games on varsity, he recorded 45 tackles, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups… He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble during his career… Helped his team to a 7-4 record overall and a 5-3 record in region play in the 2017 season… Coached by Clifford Fedd… Chose Florida over Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia… Cousins with former Gator great and All-American Ahmad Black.
