Overview
  • Averaged 3.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 54 appearances with 15 starts over two seasons at Florida.
  • Boasts a 7-foot-5.5 wingspan that enables his shot-blocking and finishing at the rim, as he shot .667 from the field and averaged 1.2 blocked shots per game.
  • Posted five double-figure scoring games and one double-double.
 
2020-21, Sophomore Season
  • Averaged 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds with 29 blocked shots in 24 game with eight starts.
  • Ranked 10th in the SEC with 1.2 blocked shots per game and shot .750 from the field (39-for-52).
  • Making his first start of the season, Payne turned in nine points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots in the Gators’ 26-point rout of sixth-ranked Tennessee.
  • Added 10 points and nine rebounds in the win at Georgia.
 
2019-20, Freshman Season
  • Averaged 3.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 30 games with seven starts during his freshman campaign.
  • Posted a double-double in the win vs. No. 4 Auburn with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Payne shot 9-for-9 from the field in the win, joining teammate Andrew Nembhard as the only SEC players since 2000 to shoot 1.000 with nine-plus field goals in a conference game.
  • Earned his first career start vs. Long Beach State and responded with 11 points and nine boards.
  • Had nine rebounds in 12 minutes at South Carolina, providing valuable minutes off the bench.
  • Grabbed nine rebounds in the win vs. Saint Joseph’s.
 
Prep
  • Helped Montverde to a 22-3 record and a semifinal appearance in the GEICO Nationals.
  • Prior to enrolling at Montverde, Payne played at Oscecloa and helped the team to the 2017 Class 9A state championship and a 28-2 record.
  • Payne had a double-double with 10 points and 10 blocked shots in the 2017 state semifinals.
