National/International Competition: Participated in the 2012 USA Olympic Team Trials and recorded personal bests in the 400 free and 200 fly… A member of the 2009 National Team… Competed in the 2009 Pan-Pacific Championships… The 2008 Speedo Junior National Champion in the 400-meter free, the 800-meter free and the 1,500-meter free… Competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., in the 1,500-meter freestyle… Secured trials cuts in both the 400-meter free and 1,500-meter freestyle.
At Florida:
2012-13: Earned the first All-America honor of his career after finishing 16th in the 1,650 free with a personal-best time of 14:55.74, breaking 15 minutes for the first time… Also took 28th in the 500 free (4:20.08) and 41st in the 200 free (1:36.99) at the NCAA meet… At the SEC Championships: Finished fourth in the 500 free in 4:15.69, a personal-best, eighth in the 1,650 free with a then personal-best of 15:02.78 and was 17th in the 200 free in a personal-best 1:36.49...Won the 500 free (4:24.37) and finished sixth in the 200 free (1:39.81) against Tennessee...Took first in the 500 free (4:25.33) and third in the 1,000 free (9:09.84) in the win at Auburn...Came in second in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.00 and the 500 free in 4:30.53 against Florida Atlantic...Finished third in the 1,650 free (15:06.55), 19th in the 200 fly in a personal-best 1:50.43 (prelim) and 21st in the 200 free (1:39.07) and 500 free (4:21.82) at the Ohio State Invitational...Took third in the 500 free (4:33.56) and sixth in the 200 free (1:43.83) at Florida State...Won the 500 free in a time of 4:28.06 and finished fourth in the 200 fly (1:53.31) against Texas A&M...Was fourth in the 200 free in 1:40.46 and 100 free with a personal-best 46.88 at South Carolina...Claimed the win in the 500 free touching the wall in 4:25.70 and took second in the 1,000 free in a personal-best 9:03.34 at Georgia...Won the 1,650 free (15:29.15), finished second in the 500 free (4:27.82) and seventh in the 200 fly (1:51.23) at the All-Florida Invitational.
2011-12: Swam the fastest 500 free on the year, and of his career, for the Gators with a 4:18.83 performance at the 2012 Bulldog Invitational… Finished second in the men’s 500 free at the 2012 SEC Championships with a 4:18.99 swim, sixth in the 1,650 free (15:10.53) and added a 13th-place swim in the 200 free (1:37.74) to earn the first All-SEC honor of his career… Won the 1,000 free and finished second in the 500 free with times of 9:16.64 and 4:30.21, respectively, in the Gators season finale against Tennessee...Took second and third against Auburn in the 800m free (8:23.23) and (4:04.54), respectively… Won the 200 free in 1:40.15 against FAU… Collected two top-three finishes at the Georgia Tech Invitational, taking third in both the 500 (4:27.58) and 1,650 free (15:29.85)… Won both the 200 (1:39.52) and 500 free (4:27.01) in Florida’s win over rival FSU… Finished third in the 800m free (8:19.37) and fifth in the 400m free (4:06.53) in the first long course meet of the season against Georgia… Opened the season touching second in the 500 free (4:24.52).
2010-11: Named to the 2011 SEC Academic Honor Roll… One of the Gators top long and middle distance swimmers… Swam a 4:21.75 in the 500 free and 15:21.32 in the 1,650 free at the UGA Last Chance meet to finish first and fourth, respectively… Won the 500 free, touching in 4:30.79 against Indian River State College… Captured the 1,000 free title in a personal-best 9:08.58 and finished second in the 500 free (4:28.13) against SEC opponent Auburn… Clinched dual victories against Florida Atlantic, winning the 200 and 500 free in 1:40.56 (season best) and 4:31.14, respectively… Won the 1,000 free (9:11.99) and finished third in the 500 free (4:34.14) against Georgia Tech… Claimed the 1,650 free title against LSU, touching in 15:47.14...Against Georgia, finished second in the 500 free (4:27.01) and third in the 1,000 free (9:10.72)… Opened the season at the All-Florida Invitational finishing first in the 500 free (4:28.67) and second in both the 1,650 free (15:36.78) and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay team.
2009-10: Took third in the 1,000 free (9:28.36) against Indian River State College… Placed third in the 500 free (4:26.20) at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational...Finished third against Florida State in the 1000 free (9:22.24)… Placed second vs. Georgia Tech in the 1,000 free (9:30.41)… Took third in the 1,000 free (9:23.69) in the season opener against Virginia.
High School: Attended Newsome High School… Won the 500-yard free with a new state record at the 2009 FHSAA Class 2A State Championships and was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle… Was the FHSAA Class 2A 100-yard fly State Champion, as well as the being the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke his junior year… Graduated with honors… Coached at Newsome by Chau Clark.
Club: A member of Brandon Blue Wave, coached by Peter Banks and Mio Vasic.
Personal: Born Jason Scott Taylor on February 26, 1991, to Larry and Jean Taylor… Father attended UF… Has one sister, Amy (16)… Also considered Georgia in the decision-making process… Enjoys watching sports on his free time… Chose the University of Florida because he was born a Gator, because of the closeness of his team and because he believes it’s the best place to pursue his academic and athletic goals.
