Recorded a lifetime best 3:57.84 in the 400-meter free, finishing 40th overall, while also setting a career-best in the 1,500-meter free (15:35.31, 18th ) at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha.
At Florida
2008-09: Named to the 2009 SEC Academic Honor Roll… A member of UF’s fifth-place NCAA Championship Team… Picked up one All-American honor for his finish in the mile at NCAAs… Provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 500 free, mile and 400-yard IM… Notched 11th overall in the mile (14:50.29), a career-best time and the second-fastest mark in UF history, and placed 28th in the 400-yard individual medley at the 2009 NCAA meet (3:50.93), a new career-best mark… Also swam for the Gators at the 2009 SEC Championship meet… Claimed third in the mile (14:53.630, took eighth place in the 500 free (4:18.79) and 13th in the 400 IM at SECs… Swam in 12 meets for Florida his junior season, including duals against league rivals FSU, Auburn & Tennessee… Also competed at the 2008 U.S. Short Course Nationals… Took 21st in the mile (15:33.09), 40th in the 400 IM (4:06.34) and 55th in the 500 free (4:35.16) in Atlanta… Placed fifth in the 1,000-yard free against Tennessee (9:18.28) and third in the event when the Gators visited Auburn (9:16.60) to highlight the dual meet season success.
2007-08: Appeared at the 2008 NCAA Championships in Seattle in his first year with the Gators … Placed 24th in the 1,650 freestyle (15:21.04) and 37th in the 500 free (4:24.21) … Placed sixth in the 500 free with a career best time of 4:21.20 at the SEC Championships in Tuscaloosa … Also turned in a time of 3:55.26 in the 400 IM and the eighth fastest time in school history in the 1,650 free (15:00.14) for a third place finish … Touched first in the 1,000 free (9:13.32) against Purdue and IRCC … Earned the win in the 500 free (4:32.00) versus Purdue … Touched seventh in the 400-meter free (4:03.27) at the Alabama Invitational … Placed third in the 1,000 free (9:11.35) versus Florida State … Earned a first place finish in the 1,650 free (15:27.82) for his best finish at the Boilermaker Invitational … Touched fourth in the 1,650 free (15:46.47) at Minnesota (10/13) … Finished fourth in the 1,000 free (9:21.67) in his first race as a Gator at Virginia.
High School
Was an All-American performer in the 500 free and 200 free his senior year … Won the state championship with a time of 4:27.29 in the 500 and was the state runner-up in the 200 free with a time of 1:41.20.

A member of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks coached by the former Larry Shofte … Holds SYS records in the 1,000 and 1,650 free events.

Born Christopher Ryan Crete on April 12, 1988, in Dunedin, Florida … Son of Randy and Karen Crete … Has on brother, Drew, 19, who is serving as the Gators’ manager for the 2009-10 season … Chose to transfer to UF from Georgia Tech his sophomore season because it is close to home, the great swim team and the good academics … Lists his interests outside the pool as cars and motorcycles … Considered Florida, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Florida State and South Carolina before choosing Georgia Tech the first time through the recruiting process.
