AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2008-09): Graduated from the University of Florida in 2009… Tallied nine rounds and 718 strokes for a 79.7 season average… Rounded out Florida’s lineup at The Landfall Tradition where she carded a 247 (81-83-83, +31) for a 54th place finish… Matched her previous career best after carding a one-over 73 in the first round of the Mason Rudolph and set a new career best tournament score with a 228 (73-76-79)… Had a season-best finish with a tie for 53rd at the same event… Earned a spot on the starting rotation for the first tournament of the season, the NCAA Fall Preview, finishing in a tie for 61st with a total score of 243 (+27).
AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2007-08): Granted a medical redshirt after seeing most of her sophomore campaign curtailed by an injury… Finished the season with a 79.75 stroke average through 12 rounds… Competed as an individual, finishing in a tie for 77th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge with a three-day score of 249 (84-83-82-249, +28)… Appeared in the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate as an individual, scoring a three-round total of 241… One of three Florida golfers to compete at the NorthShore Shootout and finished fifth out of nine with a three-round tally of (81-78-79--238)… Made first appearance of the year competing as an individual at the Wildcat Fall Invitational where he improved her score through every round and marched up the leaderboard, tying her career-best round, en route to a top-25 finish (23rd).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2006-07): Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll… Was awarded a redshirt after an early-season injury… Neared her career-low round of 73 with a 74 in the opening round of the Dick McGuire Invitational.
AS A FRESHMAN (2005-06): Fifth on the team in stroke average (76.25)… Posted two top-20 finishes… Saw action in four tournaments during the spring season… Shot a career-best three-round total of 224 in her first tournament as a Lady Gator… Carded a career-low round of 73 at the Bryan National Collegiate… Competed in the SEC Championships and tied for 41st with rounds of 77-74-81 for a 232 total.
PRIOR TO FLORIDA: In 2005, she notched a seventh-place finish at the MCI Jr. Heritage event and claimed fourth at the AJGA Dunlop Junior… Took top honors in two junior events in 2004, including the FCWT Jr. Invitational at the TPC Sawgrass, and the FCWT Golf Classic in Doral… Finished in third place at the AJGA TPC Louisiana and fifth at the Doral Publix Junior in Miami, Fla.… Finished in sixth place at the 2004 FHSAA Golf Finals… Named 2004 FCWT Player of the Year in the Eastern Division… Earned FCWT first-team All-American Honors in 2004… Honored as the 2003-04 First Coast Golfer of the Year… On the high school honor roll all four years… Member of National Honor Society during her junior and senior years, as well as Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
PERSONAL: Born Brittany Kay Nelson on Dec. 8, 1987, in Chicago, Ill.… Daughter of Chase and Deb Nelson… Has one older brother, Brad… Hobbies include running and going to the beach… Also considered Alabama, Furman, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt… Future ambitions include joining the LPGA… Chose Florida because of its golf tradition and the strength of its athletic program… Major is public relations.
