Annika Bengtsson decided to leave the University of Florida after two years and return home to Sweden.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2001-02)

Spring: Played the No. 5 & 6 positions in the lineup, posting an 11-7 dual match record... involved in the clinching match in UF’s final three matches of the regular season, going 2-1 in those contests ...
Fall: reached the quarterfinals of the Omni Hotels South Regional Championships ... advanced to the semifinals of the Gator Fall Classic before losing to Miami’s Mari Toro 7-6, 7-5 ... opened the season at the adidas Invitational in Palm Springs, Calif., with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Arizona State’s Megan Yeats, ranked No. 50 in the country – the highest-ranked player she has ever defeated.
Doubles: Season-high ITA Rank: n/a (No. 8 in South Region with Alexis Gordon, Dec. 14); Primary dual match position: No. 3 (with Zerene Reyes)
Spring: Paired with Zerene Reyes for the entire dual match season, when the duo played at the No. 3 position in all matches except the season opener ... posted a 14-5 record in team play ... on the winning end of seven of eight matches that clinched the doubles point for UF, including the team’s NCAA Round of 16 win over Northwestern and the Semifinal victory over Tennessee.
Fall: With Alexis Gordon, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Omni Hotels South Regional Championships before losing a tough 9-8 (3) decision to Georgia’s 20 th -ranked pair of Agata Cioroch and Lori Grey ... paired with Alexis Gordon for the first time ever and advanced to the semifinals of the Gator Fall Classic before losing to UCF’s Julie Pecastaing and Anna Westin 9-7.
AS A FRESHMAN (2000-01)

Spring: Defeated Arkansas’ Megan Ferreria 6-0, 6-0 in the second round of the NCAA Championship, becoming the fourth Gator this season to win with a ‘double-bagle’ ... provided the clinching dual match win in UF’s 4-3 victory over Georgia (April 8), defeating No. 62 Tina Hojnik 6-2, 6-2, to lift the Gators into sole possession of first place in the SEC standings en route to capturing the SEC overall championship ... opened the dual match season on an 11-match winning streak during which she did not drop a set ... had her 11- match winning streak snapped after a grueling 0-6, 6-4, (10-7) loss to Tennessee’s Brooke Cordell (March 23) - her only regular season loss to an SEC opponent ... lost a combined total of just 16 games during her first six dual matches ... reached the finals of the adidas College Invitational Flight B, where she lost to Notre Dame’s Kimberly Guy 6-2, 6-3.
Fall: Advanced to the quarterfinals of her first collegiate tournament, upsetting eighth-seeded Genevieve Houle from USF 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of the Lady Seminole Classic before losing to Gator teammate and eventual winner Jessica Lehnhoff ... reached the semifinals of the Hurricane Classic, upsetting no. 2-seed Bettina Hafner from Miami 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Doubles: Season-high ITA rank: n/a; Primary dual match position: No. 3 (with Lindsay Dawaf)
Spring: Posted a 17-2 dual match record, including a 7-1 mark against SEC opponents ... provided the clinching doubles point in UF’s 4-0 win over Washington (May 18) in the NCAA quarterfinals ... has logged three 8-0 victories in dual match action with partner Lindsay Dawaf.
Fall: Paired with Lindsay Dawaf at the ITA South Regional Champi-onships, where the duo lost in first round, and went 1-1 in consola-tion action.

Trained at IS Gota, Helsingborg for five years ... won the 1998 Swedish Junior Open Championships Under-18 age group, defeating Anna Andersson 6-2, 6-3 in the final ... won the Masters, Goteborg 16-and-Under age group in October 1997, topping Angelica Jonsson 6-3, 6-2 in the final ... the top-ranked Swedish Junior player since January of 1998 ... ranked No. 5 for all Swedish women ...
