Jesse Ackerman makes his second stint with the Florida Gators, joining the program as the Associate Director of Player Performance ahead of the 2024 season.
His first stop in Gainesville began in 2012 when he was Florida's assistant director of strength and conditioning for three seasons before making his way to Army where he was a strength and conditioning coach for the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Ackerman recently spent time (2022-23) in the XFL as a head performance coach along with being a co-founder l of the Professional Coaches Group 360 and doing consulting work in the field.
For five seasons (2016-2020), Ackerman was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Atlanta Falcons. He first started off as an assistant for OTA’s before climbing up his way up to the leader inside the department.
Ackerman joined the Gators after four seasons (2008-11) at Texas as a strength and conditioning coach before spending 2007 in the same role at Iowa State.
He began his coaching career in the strength and conditioning field at his alma mater, John Carroll, where he was an assistant football coach and the head strength and conditioning coach for five seasons (2002-06).
Ackerman holds two master degrees - one in clinical mental health counseling from John Carroll University and the other in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania.
He also has four certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach Emeritus (RSCC*E) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
