Haslem ruled the paint in the second half, scoring 16 of his 27 points after halftime. It was Haslem's fourth double-double of the season and the 10th of his career. He was one of three Gator players in double figures. Haslem's former Miami High teammate Brent Wright scored 17 points. Brett Nelson made three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Gator coach Billy Donovan thought Haslem may have had an even bigger day offensively, but his guards took too many three-point shots (27). "Our guys need to understand they aren't ever going to play with a low-post guy like Udonis Haslem again," said Donovan. "They need to take advantage of that guy. He could make the game so much easier for our perimeter guys."
One perimeter player who had a tough day was guard Teddy Dupay. The junior from Fort Myers was 0 for 9 from the field and made just two free throws in the game.
The Gators had a big day from the free throw line, making 27 of 31.
Gonzaga was led in scoring by center Casey Cavalry, who had 18 points.
The Gators improved their record to 6-1. Florida's next game will be Tuesday night, December 19th against Bethune Cookman in Gainesville. Tip- off is scheduled for 6 p.m. eastern.
