Gator basketball holds off Depaul 83-76

Coach Billy Donovan was pleased to see his team win despite subpar shooting. "We could not throw one in the ocean", said Donovan. "We had good, wide open shots, the guards didn't shoot the ball particularly well, Udonis (Haslem) got into early foul trouble. I was just so proud with how well they competed and played, because nothing went well for us offensively."
DePaul took advantage of Haslem's early foul trouble and took a 39-34 lead. But the Gators went on a 10-nothing run to close out the half and take a 45-39 lead at intermission. Matt Bonner came off the bench to score 17 points. The Gators won the game despite playing without leading scorer Teddy Dupay, who was suspended for violating unspecified team rules.
The Gators will travel to East Lansing, Michigan Wednesday December 6th for a game with third ranked Michigan State in a rematch of last year's National Championship game. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game wil be broadcast nationally on ESPN. The Gator Radio Network broadcast starts at 6:30 p.m. ET.
