Divers Come On Strong Second Day Of Alabama Invite

The University of Florida men's and women's diving teams finished the second day of the Alabama Diving Invitational with three divers finishing in the top four. Freshman Nicole Bolt (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) had the teams' high finish, taking second on the one-meter springboard with her score of 276.75. The field features all SEC teams that includes Auburn, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee.
Junior Reggie Coote (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Western) narrowly missed taking third place on the platform with a score of 504.15, good for fourth. Auburn's Caesar Garcia's score of 505.75 earned him third. Junior Hank Richardson (Houston, Texas/Memorial) followed Coote, finishing fifth on the platform with a score of 502.60.
On the women's side, senior Robyn Grimes (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) took fourth on the one-meter springboard. She ended the night with a score of 269.90. Redshirt-sophomore Sarah Close (Clearwater, Fla./Dunedin) finished eighth in the event, scoring 250.45, and freshman Kristen Connor (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz) rounded out the Gators' showing with a score of 181.55, good for 10th place.
The Alabama Diving Invitational will conclude Sunday at the Alabama Aquatic Center. The men will compete on the three-meter springboard and the women will compete on the platform. The meet wraps up the 2000 portion of Florida's schedule. The Gators will return to action Friday, Jan. 5 in Auburn, Ala., when they face the Auburn Tigers at 6 p.m.
