The No. 8 Florida men's tennis team was handed its first loss of the season on Friday night at the hands of No. 1 Stanford by a 4-0 score in the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the University of Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center. UF slips to 4-1 on the year, losing for the first time since falling to the Cardinal in last year's NCAA semifinals. Stanford improves to 6-0.

The Cardinal took two quick doubles matches, clinching the point at No. 3. In singles, Stanford won at No.1, 5, and 6 to claim the match with the decisive win posted by Alex Kim at No. 1 over junior Olivier Levant (Paris, France), 6-3, 6-1. UF senior Nathan Overholser (Okemos, Mich.) did not play in singles due to an arm injury. When play was suspended the Cardinal led the No. 3 and No. 4 matches with UF's Jeremy Wurtzman (Rochester, NY) up 1-0 in the third set of his match at No. 2 against K.J. Hippensteel.

The Gators will face No. 19 Washington on Saturday night at 11 pm ET in consolation play.
