Washington--Nat'l Team Indoors
Men's Tennis Loses to No. 19 Washington, 4-1
Sunday, February 18, 2001 | Men's Tennis
Playing without senior Nathan Overholser (Okemos, Mich.) UF juggled its doubles lineup and the results were not ideal as The Gators dropped the top two matches. Singles saw UW win three of the four completed matched but the Gators led on both of the suspended ones. Wurtzman was the lone UF winner, taking down 74th ranked Andrej Bizjak, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, improving his record to 5-0 in dual match singles play.
"We had to changes the whole doubles lineup and everyone moved up a spot in singles," head coach Ian Duvenhage said. "Actually I was really happy with singles. We did a good job in singles but the doubles we played badly. Still, if we can play a team that beat Georgia two days ago that tough without Nathan then I think that we can be a top team if everybody's healthy."
The Gators return to action on Feb. 23 when they host No. 10 Texas A&M at 4 pm at the Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex. It will be UF's first home match since Jan. 27.
