Men's Tennis Upset By South Carolina, 4-3
Sunday, March 11, 2001 | Men's Tennis
The Gators cyclical injury problems continued today as junior Olivier Levant (Paris, France) returned to the UF lineup but senior Nathan Overholser (Okemos, Mich.) did not play due to persistent arm troubles. Still UF was strong in taking the match-opening doubles point, sweeping all three matches for just the second time this year and first since sweeping Florida A&M on Jan. 27. UF used it's 13th and 14th different doubles pairings in its 13 dual matches.
Levant and freshman Jeremy Wurtzman (Rochester, N.Y.) posted a 8-5 win at No. 1, sophomore Indianapolis natives Matt Behrmann and Troy Hahn teamed up for a 8-6 win at No. 3 and freshmen Ross Greenstein (Minnetonka, Minn.) and West Nott (Midland, Mich.) won their match by a 8-4 score at No. 3.
Singles play saw three set Gator wins by Hahn at No. 3 and Nott at No. 6 but the Gamecocks took the four other matches to claim the overall victory.
The Gators return to action on Wednesday when they host No. 12 Texas at 3:00 pm.
