Women's Tennis Beats 'Bama, 6-1

The No. 4 Florida women's tennis team improved to 11-0 on the year and 6-0 in SEC play with a 6-1 win over No. 42 Alabama today in Tuscaloosa.
UF swept the doubles point to open play, including a 8-0 win at No. 1 by Whitney Laiho and Jessica Lehnhoff over the Tide's Emma Berard and Dominique Glinzler. The Gators then won at the No. 2-6 singles positions comfortably in straight sets to seal their victory. Lehnhoff, Lindsay Dawaf, Stephanie Hazlett, Julia Scaringe and Annika Bengtsson won those matches for UF.
"This was a good match for us," UF head coach Andy Brandi said. "We competed very well. We're looking forward to having a couple of days off."
Today's win was the Gators third in as many days, and was the team's fifth over a seven-day span.
Florida will return to action on March 22 when the Gators host NC State at 5:00 pm. UF will play three home matches in four days, coupled with a March 23 contest against No. 15 Tennessee and a March 25 showdown with No. 6 Vanderbilt.
