The University of Florida women's golf team won the Florida Women's Collegiate Golf Tournament, which concluded on Sunday at Don Shula's Golf Resort (par 72, 6,238 yards). The Lady Gators shot a 299 on the final day for a tournament total of 895 (+31). Florida International finished second with a three-day total of 898 (+34).
"The team played great," Florida head coach Jill-Briles Hinton said. "It was tough competition. We led pretty much wire to wire. I'm proud of the way the team played. We have some momentum now and we hope to carry that into the SEC Championships."
Sophomore Jeanne Cho (Boulogne, France/St. Stephen's Episcopal School) led the team with a third-place finish, placing her on the All-State team, which is comprised of the top five finishers from the tournament. Cho shot an even-par 72 in Sunday's final round, giving her a tournament total of 219, her lowest tournament total of the season.
Sophomore Brittany Straza (Fort Myers, Fla./Lehigh) finished in a tie for 10th overall. Straza shot a 78 (+6) on Sunday for a three-day total of 225. Freshman Amanda Dick (Clearwater, Fla./Countryside) tied for 13h with a three-day total of 227 after shooting a 77 (+5) on Sunday. Sophomore Sam Zausner White (Rockville, Md./The Bullis School) shot an even-par 72 to bring her three-day total to 230 and tie her for 20th overall in the tournament. White's tournament total is her best of the season. Redshirt freshman Joy Stephenson (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) shot a career-best 230 for the tournament, tying her for 28th overall. Stephenson shot a 81 (+9) on Sunday.
The tournament concludes the regular season for the Lady Gators. Florida will host the SEC Championships April 20-22 at the University of Florida Golf Course.
