Florida senior golfer and NCAA Champion Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) was named to the Verizon Men's Spring At-Large Academic All-America Second Team by CoSIDA Tuesday.
Gilliam, a three-time Southeastern Conference Honor Roll student, graduated last month with a degree in Decision and Information Sciences and Management with a 3.70 grade point average. Gilliam is the first men's golfer in school history to be named to the national Academic All-America team. UF now has 41 Academic All-Americans since 1992, the fourth-highest total among Division I schools.
Earlier this month, the Gators captured the school's fourth NCAA Men's Golf Championship and Gilliam won the individual title to give Florida a sweep of the two championships.
