Matthew Kress (honorable mention), Luke Poulter (third team) and Jack Turner (second team) earned recognition from the GCAA and Golfweek.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's golf trio of Matthew Kress (honorable mention), Luke Poulter (third team) and Jack Turner (second team) collected All-America honors by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golfweek on Wednesday.
Turner headlines the group with earning his third selection from both. If the rising senior earns the nod by the GCAA next season, he will become the sixth four time All-American in program history and first since Gator Great Billy Horschel. The four others are Matt Every, Dudley Hart (current associate head coach), David Jackson and Camilo Villegas.
The Orlando native captured a team-best T14 (-6) at the NCAA National Championship to earn All-Tournament Team. His 6-under is the fourth-lowest 72-hole score by par in program history at the NCAA Championship, and one shot behind Fred Biondi's (-7) mark in 2023, when he captured the individual national title. Turner had a team-best stroke average of 71.0, his third straight season on the mark and is the program's current leader in career stroke average. He also had team-highs in top10s (5), top25s (11), birdies (127), eagles (5), rounds counted (31), par or better rounds (22) and tournaments (9), average relation to 18 holes (-0.27) and 54 holes (-0.4).
Also in the postseason, Turner finished T7 (-8) at the SEC Championship with a 64 (-6) and went undefeated in match play (2-0) with the match-clinching point in the semifinals in back-to-back seasons. He placed 10th at the Columbus Regional and in the 10 postseason rounds, seven were even or better with five under par.
Fellow rising senior Poulter also earned selection by both organizations in as many seasons. He was second on the team in stroke average at 71.2. He won his second collegiate event at the Columbus Regional for the seventh regional individual championship in program history
Outside of a T39 and T55, Poulter finished T16 or better in each tournament and was par or better in eight of 10 tournaments played. He turned in under par rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) to help Florida's surge into match play at the NCAAs.
Capping off a successful collegiate career, Kress earns his second straight PING All-America and first by Golfweek. He also adds to his two-time All-America selection with two SEC Championships, a National Championship, an individual collegiate title and a part of 23 team victories. He finished No. 16 in the final PGA TOUR U Rankings to earn membership on PGA TOUR Americas the rest of the season and be exempt into Second Stage of the current season's PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.
An Academic All-American also, Kress had a career-low stroke average of 71.4 while posting a team-best four top-5s. He was just a few ticks behind Turner in multiple categories -birdies (118), rounds counted (30) and par or better rounds (21). Kress finished T2 at regionals in consecutive seasons and in his fourth National Championship he shot three rounds of par or better.
