Holmia To Play In SEC Indoor Semifinal

University of Florida freshman Janne Holmia continued his impressive performance at the 2003 SEC Men's Indoor Championships on Saturday as he played his way into Sunday's semifinal round. The event is being held at the Tennis Club of the South in Norcross, GA.
Holmia, met up with LSU's Peter Richman in the quarterfinals, and came away with the victory in two sets (7-6, 6-1). On Sunday, Holmia will square off against Georgia's Bo Hodge for a spot in the finals. Holmia enters ranked 29th in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Preseason Rankings, while Hodge is the tournaments eighth seed and ranked 25th in the nation. The two did meet this past fall at the Omni Hotels Region III Championships. Holmia defeated Hodge in the round of 16, 7-6 (3), 6-0. Florida's Matt Behrmann was also in action on Saturday in the singles consolation round formed for those who dropped their opening singles round match on Thursday. Behrmann, ranked 116th in the country was defeated by Nathan Price of Arkansas, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Behrmann teamed with Troy Hahn in the doubles quarterfinals as the two faced Chad Harris and Scott Brown of Vanderbilt. Despite entering the tournament as the top seed, Behrmann and Hahn were defeated, 8-5. Florida's Eleazar Magallan and Olivier Levant also came up short in their quarterfinal match against 43rd-ranked Hodge and Nicolas Boeker (9-8 (5).
Singles semifinals will start tomorrow at 10 a.m., while the final is set for 1 p.m.
