Cross Country to Compete in Notre Dame Invitational

The Florida men's and women's cross country teams head to South Bend, Ind. to compete at the Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational Friday evening. Several of the top teams in the country are expected to run in the meet at Burke Memorial Golf Course. This is the first meet the Gators will run in this season that will count toward points for NCAA Championship bids.
The women's 5K race begins at 3:15 ET. Running for Florida will be Diane Avigne (Jr./Lacrosse), Carling Cookerly (Sr./Sarasota), Mallory Dunn (Sr./Daytona Beach), Devin Gapstur (Fr./Stuart), Jamie Geissler (So./Spokane, Wash.), Kristen Johnson (Fr./Atlanta, Ga.), Caroline Payne (Fr./Gainesville), Valeria Rodriguez (Fr./Miami) and Lindsay Sundell (Fr./Northport, N.Y.). Twenty-three teams are scheduled to run in the women's race. They are: Air Force, Akron, No. 20 Butler, Cal-Irvine, Cornell (rv), Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Idaho State, No. 6 Michigan, No. 22 Michigan State, Mississippi State, No. 23 Missouri, No. 4 Notre Dame, No. 27 Oklahoma, Purdue (rv), Southern Illinois, No. 1 Stanford, No. 12 UCLA, Vanderbilt, Western Michigan, No. 24 William & Mary and Wisconsin.
The men's 8K race begins at 4 p.m. ET. Running for Florida will be Scott Hans (Fr./Middlebury), Ryder Leary (So./Yulee), Henok Lechebo (Fr./Toronto, Ontario), Enoch Nadler (Fr./Keystone Heights), Cory Presnick (Sr./Inverness), Brent Schneider (Sr./Pensacola), Adam Sisler (Jr./Odessa), Shane Stroup (So./Highland, Md.) and Steve Zieminski (Sr./Sarasota). Twenty-six teams are scheduled to run in the men's race. They are: No. 13 Air Force, Alabama, Belmont, No. 9 Brigham Young, No. 11 Butler, Cal-Irvine, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan (rv), Florida (rv), No. 28 Florida State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Idaho State, No. 15 Indiana, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, No. 30 Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Princeton, Saint Francis (PA), Southern Illinois, No. 2 Stanford and UCLA.
The Florida men are receiving votes in the MONDO/USCCCA Coaches Poll for the first time under head coach Jeff Pigg. The Gators are receiving 17 votes, the second most of unranked teams, in the most recent poll released Sept. 28.
