Mosby Officially Removed from Team
Thursday, March 24, 2005 | Women's Basketball
University of Florida women's basketball junior Bernice Mosby will not return to the program for her senior season, Gator head coach Carolyn Peck announced today.
"This has been the hardest decision I've ever had to make as a coach," Peck said. "This decision is in the best interest for our basketball program and for Bernice. I wish her the best of luck in the future."
Mosby has been given the option of continuing her education on scholarship at the University of Florida or will be granted a release to transfer to another school to continue her collegiate basketball career.
Mosby concludes her Gator career with 1,124 points, the 17th most in program history, as well as 625 rebounds. The 6-foot forward was removed from the team on February 25 and did not play the final four games of the season. Mosby was UF's leading scorer and rebounder this season, averaging 15.5 points and 8.6 per game. She started all 25 games she played, averaging a team-best 30.3 minutes per contest. Mosby was a Second Team All-Southeastern Conference selection by the coaches and media this season and voted the 2004 SEC Sixth Woman of the Year.
