Women's Basketball signs 6-5 Montenegrin center Maja Bigovic

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Tammi Reiss announced today that the Gators have signed 6-5 Montenegrin center Maja Bigovic (MAH-yah BEE-goh-vich).
"I'm really excited that Maja decided to come to the U.S. and join our Gators' family," said Reiss. "She has tremendous mobility and agility for someone with her size. She does an amazing job at finishing at the rim, left or right and scoring in the paint. Maja is a great pick and roll player as she can roll or pop and looks to score. Her versatility allows us to play her in the pinch or in the post. I'm excited to add her size to protect the paint and rebound the ball. She is a tremendous culture young woman who believes in hard work and wants to win championships!"
Bigovic played on the Montenegrin National Team from 2023-26, appearing in a number of Eurobasket competitions, as well as the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournament Mexico, where she averaged 8.3 points and 6.0 rebounds helping the team to a third-place finish.
She also took part in the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship and the 2022 FIBA U20 Women's European Championship, averaging 8.3 points and 6.9 rebounds over the two tournaments. That 2022 team finished first in its division.
Bogivic played for ZKK Buducnost Bemax Podgorica in the First А Women's Basketball League of Montenegro and the WABA (Adriatic League), as well as for Darazsak Sportakadmie in the Hungarian B Division.
Bigovic's sister, Mala, recently announced her decision to attend and play for the University of Delaware.
