University of Florida volleyball coach Mary Wise will serve as the honorary chair of the Alachua County PACE Center for Girls Sixth Annual Golf Tournament to be held April 30th at Plantation Oaks Golf & Country Club.
The PACE (Practical, Academic, Cultural Education) center focuses on quality, gender-responsive, school based programs for at-risk girls ages 12-18 that produce life-changing opportunities. The center's annual golf scramble serves as a major fund-raiser for the organization with the tournament featuring men's, women's and mixed divisions, along with plenty of great raffles, door prizes and giveaways.
"The PACE Center for Girls is one of the best things we've got going in Gainesville," Wise said. "The money raised will go toward helping girls who are experiencing difficulty at home or at school. These are girls that often times fall through the cracks and never recover. In our community, we're fortunate to have PACE, a program whose entire mission is assisting troubled girls with a holistic approach. I am proud to have my name associated with their fundraiser."
The tournament registration fee is $75 and includes golf, lunch and a bag of goodies. For more information, including how to register and sponsorship information, go to www.pacegolf.com or call 352-374-8799.
