Collymore, McGinnis Pick Up Additional National Honors

Senior outside hitter Jane Collymore (Englewood, Colo.) was named a first team Stellar Spiker, while sophomore Angie McGinnis (Fraser, Mich.) was an honorable mention selection as announced by Collegiate Volleyball Update.
The honors add to the collection of both Collymore and McGinnis. Collymore earned first team All-American honors from both the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Volleyball Magazine, while McGinnis was a third team AVCA choice and an honorable mention pick by Volleyball Magazine.
In 2005, Collymore became the fourth outside hitter in school history to be named a first team All-American as she joined Aury Cruz (2001-03), Jenny Manz (1998) and Gudula Staub (1991-92). The two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year (2004-05) was named a tournament MVP four times in 2005, including the SEC Tournament. Collymore became just the second player in school history to record more than one 500-kill season and the sixth to reach 1,000 kills and digs in a career. Collymore led the SEC in 2005 with 4.62 kills per game and 0.62 aces per game in conference matches. She ended her stay in Gainesville ranked in the school's all-time top 10 in 51 different categories, including second in attacks (4,076), third in aces (176), fourth in kills (1,629) and points (1,944.0), fifth in kills per game (3.79), tied for fifth in service aces per game (0.41), sixth in points per game (4.52), tied for seventh in digs per game (2.63) and eighth in digs (1,131).
In 2005, McGinnis set school records by a setter in kills per game (1.21) and hitting percentage (.394). Her assist average (13.46) ranked as the third best in school history and the most ever by a sophomore. Her assist average was the ninth-best in the nation in 2005 and tops in the SEC. McGinnis' points per game average (1.72) was also the second best by a setter in school history. She set Florida to season hitting efficiency of .301 - the eighth highest in both Florida history and in the nation in 2005. McGinnis was named to All-Tournament team in all six tournaments UF played in. She also became the first player in school history to record a triple-double in 2005 when she finished with 59 assists, 22 digs and 10 kills at Tennessee. With two more seasons to play, McGinnis is already ranked sixth in Florida history in assists (2,844), while her average of 12.26 assists per game stands as the top mark in Gator history.
Florida, which returns all but two players in 2006 from last season's team that advanced to the Elite Eight and finished No. 3 in the final AVCA poll, is slated to begin spring practice on Feb. 27.
In honoring the 70 student athletes from across the nation, CVU.com looked for players that exhibited excellence and balance. While NCAA statistical rankings were considered, they weren't the only consideration. Also considered in forming the two teams of 14 and in choosing the 42 Honorable Mention selections was the impact the player had on helping her team succeed as well as conference awards.
First- and second-team selections were formed around the idea of building a team with a starting line up of seven players and then two players per starting slot were chosen to fill out each team.
