Former Gator Jane Collymore Makes USA National Team

Former University of Florida three-time All-American and two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year Jane Collymore was one of 12 players named to the USA Volleyball National Team for the upcoming Pan American Cup.
Collymore, who completed her eligibility in 2005 and ranks fourth in school history in kills, made the National Team for the second time. She was the starting outside hitter on the 2005 USA Pan American Cup team that finished fourth before also competing with Team USA during the 2005 World Grand Prix.
The event, which will be held in Puerto Rico June 27-July 8, will feature three of the world's top five teams in Brazil (No. 2), Cuba (No. 4) and the U.S. (No. 5).
The Americans open the Pan American Cup on June 29 against Peru in Group B action. Team USA also has pool-play matches against Argentina on June 30, Barbados on July 1, Cuba on July 2 and Venezuela on July 3. After a day off following group matches, the quarterfinal round is set for July 5 with the semifinals on July 6. The championship match is scheduled for July 7.
Team USA has a busy schedule in 2006 following the Pan Am Cup, starting with the World Grand Prix preliminary rounds. The Americans travel to Bydgoszcz, Poland, to face Dominican Republic on Aug. 16, Poland on Aug. 17 and Italy on Aug. 18. The next stop on Team USA's preliminary schedule is to Macau, China, to compete against China on Aug. 25, Brazil on Aug. 26 and Dominican Republic on Aug. 27. USA closes out the preliminary round at Bangkok, Thailand, against Thailand on Sept. 1, Brazil on Sept. 2 and Russia on Sept. 3. The World Grand Prix Finals will be staged Sept. 4-10 in Reggio Calabria, Italy. Team USA finished eighth in last year's event.
The Americans close out their international schedule in Japan at the World Championships from Oct. 31 to Nov. 16. USA finished second in the past World Championships held in 2002.
