The University of Florida's Megan Alexander advanced to the semifinals of the Flight 1 Singles draw of the Southeastern Conference Fall Classic, but saw her run end there with a tough three-set loss on Saturday evening.
Alexander began the day posting a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Auburn's Melissa Koning, before she dropped a tough 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 to Vanderbilt's 27th-ranked Catherine Newman.
Gator senior Lolita Frangulyan dropped her Flight 2 singles quarterfinal match 6-3, 6-1 to Georgia's 22nd-ranked Monica Dancevic. Frangulyan then moved to the overall consolation draw, which was a feed-in from the main draw semifinals, and defeated Mississippi State's Tatiana Feit 6-4, 6-3.
Alexander and Frangulyan opened Saturday's action pairing in the doubles consolation draw, where the Gator duo downed Kentucky's Megan Brocerick and Lauren Meier, 8-4.
With both Gators having been eliminated from main draw action, the team has opted to return to Gainesville and will not continue play in the final day of consolation held on Sunday.
