Senior Nina Suvak won her 13th consecutive singles match, while freshman Anastasia Revzina netted her eighth straight leading the second-ranked Florida women's tennis team to a 6-1 victory over LSU Sunday afternoon at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.
The win, which improved the Gator's overall record to 13-1 and 4-1 in the Southeastern Conference, concluded the team's four-match road trip. Florida next plays host to Alabama on Friday, March 30, when the Gators return to the Ring Tennis Complex for the first time since March 4th. The match begins at 5 p.m. and admission is free.
“Overall, we competed really well today. I'm very pleased with how we've played in singles and doubles this weekend,” Florida head coach Roland Thornqvist said. “Nina Suvak continued her relentless play and Anastasia had a terrific weekend playing with tremendous power.”
Florida won the doubles point for the ninth time this season, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to victories by the No. 2 and No. 3 tandems.
Freshman Csilla Borsanyi spotted the Gators a 2-0 advantage with her impressive 6-2, 6-2 victory over Nicole Kantor at the No. 3 position. Junior Whitney Benik then topped Hannah Robinson 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 5 before Revzina downed Staten Spencer 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot to clinch the dual match.
