Q: What does it mean for you to be able to play college volleyball in your home state and have your family and friends be able to attend your matches?
A: “It means a lot considering this is the sixth state that I have lived in. This is a state I can finally call this home because I have lived here for five years. That's why I chose to stay here because I really love Florida and I love being able to have my mom and little brother come to my games. Sometimes my dad and older brother are able come too.”
Q: What is your major and what do you hope to do with your degree?
A: “My major is telecommunication news and my dream job is to be a sports broadcaster for ESPN, TNT, or something like that. I'd love to be covering basketball - either college or pro - I just really love basketball.”
Q: You come from a pretty competitive household. What was it like growing up in a home with all brothers?
A: “I actually loved it and I don't think I would want a sister. I love my brothers to death and we compete in anything. Anything you can think of, we compete. First to the car, first to call shotgun, etc. I think it has helped me in volleyball and sports and even academics to always strive to do my best.”
Q: Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
A: “My older brother has been the biggest influence in my life because he sets a great example - not only socially but academically and athletically. I have never been around a harder worker than my older brother. His hard work and success makes me want to work just as hard to achieve my goals.”
Q: Your older brother is also a college athlete. Do you two talk a lot and how have you been able to help each other since both of you are both student-athletes?
A: “We talk a lot and he has helped me a lot just with time management. Prior to entering college, he would tell me what I should do, what I needed to focus on and what I didn't need to focus on so much. We've both have had ups and downs, and just talking to him makes it a lot easier because he is going through the same thing too. He tells me to to never give up on what you want to achieve, and the best way to achieve it is by working hard.”
Q: What is the best part of being a Gator?
A: “The best part is our home matches because the fans are amazing. We have a great crowd, especially the student section. It is just so much fun playing in front of them.”
Q: What kinds of things do you like to do in your spare time?
A: “I love movies, music and Sportscenter. I'm pretty much always on my computer downloading music and watching Sportscenter.”
