No. 7/13 T&F Makes First Of Two Indoor Trips To Ames
Wednesday, February 13, 2008 | Track and Field
The No. 7/13 University of Florida track & field team will head west this weekend for the Iowa State Classic, the first of its two visits to Ames, Iowa, during the indoor season.
UF enters the weekend looking to add to an early-season resume that has seen 15 athletes combine to produce 27 NCAA provisional marks in individual events. The Gator men's 4x400m relay is also an NCAA provisional qualifier and currently ranks third in the nation.
Coming off of an idle week, the Orange and Blue will be taking to the track for the first time since winning seven events at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky., from Feb. 1-2. Sweeps of both the 60m and 200m highlighted the meet for the Gators, as did senior Lakecia Ealey's (Albany, Ga.) record-breaking performance in the 60m. Ealey recorded a winning time of 7.27 to surpass the seven-year old UF standard in the event.
The action will commence at 2:30 p.m. ET on Friday with a selection of running and field events, and will pick back up at 10:25 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. Live results from Lied Recreational Center will be available via www.GatorZone.com.
