
18 Gators Earn All-SEC Honors at 2026 Outdoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.– The University of Florida track & field program, fresh off a Southeastern Conference outdoor title on the women's side and third place finish on the men's, had 18 athletes named to the conference's All-SEC teams on Tuesday afternoon.
The first team consists of the top finisher in each event, second team consists of the second-place finisher and third team consists of the third-place finisher. Ties are not broken. If an individual places first in one event and second in another event, they are considered First Team All-SEC and the same rules apply for a second and third place finisher in different events.
First Team All-SEC
Alida van Daalen | Discus Throw | Social Highlight
It was a dominant showing in the discus throw for van Daalen to win her third consecutive SEC discus title. The senior opened with a toss of 64.85m/212-09, which would have won the competition on its own, but she proceeded to unleash a throw of 66.70m/218-10 on her final attempt to solidify her spot atop the podium and break her own SEC Championship record. Her mark improved her already NCAA-leading distance and she holds the top seven throws in the NCAA this season.
Van Daalen finishes as one of the most accomplished discus throwers in the SEC, with six All-SEC honors. Saturday afternoon's discus championship marked her fourth straight conference outdoor individual title, as she won the 2023 shot put title. She joins elite company in the SEC, becoming just the fourth athlete to win three or more discus titles. With her victory, the UF women have won 11 SEC discus titles.
Gabrielle Matthews | 100-Meter Dash | Social Highlight
Entering the championships with the 14th-best time in the SEC in the women's 100-meter dash, Gabrielle Matthews shocked the rest of the conference and gave the Gators their first title in the event since Kyra Jefferson in 2016. The senior raced across the line with the second-best time in school history of 10.97 (+0.5), a new personal-best and No. 7 on the NCAA performance list. She now owns three All-Conference honors for her career.
Asia Phillips | Triple Jump | Social Highlight
Continuing a legacy of excellence in the triple jump at UF, Asia Phillips captured the women's title in style, having already secured the championship heading into her final jump. She had recorded a wind-legal personal best of 13.37m/43-10.50 (+1.8) on attempt three, but one-upped herself on the final attempt, jumping to the No. 6 mark in the NCAA this season, No. 6 in the UF outdoor record book and a career best of 13.59m/44-07.00, giving the Gators their 13th SEC outdoor triple jump title and Phillips her second All-SEC honor.
Temoso Masikane | Long Jump | Social Highlight
Masikane captured the first long jump title for the Florida men since 2018 on Friday at the outdoor championships. He used his third jump of the competition to record an outdoor personal-best leap of 8.01m/26-03.50 (+0.3) to take the gold medal. His mark is the No. 11 jump in the NCAA and is No. 9 in the UF outdoor record book.
Second Team All-SEC
Judy Chepkoech | 10,000-Meters | Social Highlight
Chepkoech earned her second-career All-SEC honor, placing second in the women's 10,000-meter run behind a time of 33:03.04. Her time of 32:04.01 in the event from the Wake Forest Invitational is the 10th-fastest time in the NCAA this season.
Tia Wilson | 1500-Meters | Social Highlight
The women's 1500-meter run featured a photo finish for the podium positions, led by a strong run from Wilson. Wilson found herself in the middle of the pack with 600 meters to go, but went neck and neck with the leader, falling by just 0.04 to claim the silver medal at 4:09.84. She holds a personal-best time of 4:06.43 from the Wake Forest Invitational, the seventh-fastest in the country.
Oussama Allaoui | 1500-Meters | Social Highlight
On the men's side of the 1500-meters, Allaoui found himself in an all-out sprint over the final 200 meters, managing to earn the silver medal by crossing the line at 3:43.72 and pulling away from South Carolina's Jaouad Khchina. His school record time of 3:35.30 from Wake Forest in No. 9 in the nation.
Justin Braun, Jayden Horton-Mims, Malique Smith-Band, Nicholas Spikes | 4x400-Meter Relay | Social Highlights
Horton-Mims, Spikes, Smith-Band and Braun were locked in for the men in the 4x400-meter relay. In third heading into the final 400 meters, Braun put together a split of 44.48 to push the Gators into second place with the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season, and eight-fastest in UF outdoor history, of 3:00.31.

Layla Haynes | 800-Meters | Social Highlights
Barbados' national record in the outdoor women's 800-meter run fell at sunset on Saturday inside the Hutsell-Rosen Track complex. In a stacked field of the 800 meters, which ended with the top three times in the NCAA, Layla Haynes captured the SEC bronze medal with a school record and Barbadian national record (by nearly three seconds) of 1:59.38, now the No. 3 time in the NCAA. She holds the Barbadian national records in the outdoor 800 and 1500-meter runs, as well as the indoor 800-meter run.
Hilda Olemomoi | 5000-Meters | Social Highlight
The last individual track event of the championships saw the Orange & Blue capture another podium finish. Hilda Olemomoi managed to separate from the pack in the women's 5000-meter run to take bronze with a time of 15:47.14. She ran a 15:37.28 earlier this season at the Wake Forest Invitational, No. 16 in the East Region.
Claire Stegall | 1500-Meters | Social Highlight
Pulling off a difficult 800, 1500 meters split, Stegall ran with Wilson for most of the women's 1500-meter run, capturing bronze by holding off Doricah Minsar Isoe of Kentucky by a margin of 0.01 with a time of 4:11.17. She holds the No. 8 time in the NCAA of 4:06.47, also run at Wake Forest.
Leikel Cabrera Gay | Javelin | Social Highlight
Cabrera Gay earned the first podium finish of the championships for the Gators. His first and only heave gave him a season-best mark of 78.63m/257-11 to take bronze and move to the No. 5 slot in the NCAA. This marks the first All-Conference honor for the 2025 NCAA runner-up.
Kelvin Cheruiyot | 10,000-Meters | Social Highlight
The men's 10,000-meter run saw Kelvin Cheruiyot close day one with a bronze medal performance to give him his third All-SEC honor of his career. The freshman used a kick over the last 400 meters to secure third place with a time of 29:38.71. His time of 28:25.28 from the Wake Forest Invitational is the school record in the event and sits at No. 10 in the NCAA East Region.
Jarno van Daalen | Shot Put | Social Highlight
Van Daalen entered the sixth and final throw of the SEC outdoor shot put competition in sixth place at 19.35m/63-06.00. With the pressure on, the freshman unleashed a toss of 19.71m/64-08.00, an outdoor personal-best, to earn the bronze medal and give UF its first podium finish in the men's shot put since 2021. His mark is the third-best in outdoor school history and No. 10 in the NCAA this season. He is now a two-time All-SEC honoree after earning second team status at the 2026 SEC Indoor Championships.
Vance Nilsson | 400-Meter Hurdles | Social Highlight
Giving the best performance of his young Florida career in the men's 400-meter hurdles, Nilsson got off the blocks quickly to race across the finish line with the No. 4 time in the NCAA this season, and a personal-best, of 48.77, which also pushed him to fifth in the Gators' outdoor record book.

Giving the best performance of his young Florida career in the men's 400-meter hurdles, Nilsson got off the blocks quickly to race across the finish line with the No. 4 time in the NCAA this season, and a personal-best, of 48.77, which also pushed him to fifth in the Gators' outdoor record book.
