The 17-time defending Southeastern Conference champion University of Florida volleyball team will begin spring practice on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 3:15 p.m. ET at the Lemerand Center.
The Gators are coming off of a 29-3 season that saw them tie an NCAA Division I women's volleyball record with their 17th-straight SEC title, while also extending the nation's longest streak of 25-win seasons to 17 in a row. UF returns three starters – middle blocker Kelsey Bowers (Gainesville, Fla.), All-American libero/defensive specialist Elyse Cusack (Melrose, Fla.) and outside hitter Callie Rivers (Winter Park, Fla.) – from a squad that reached the NCAA regional semifinals for the 16th time in the last 17 seasons.
Bowers was a second-team All-SEC selection a last year, while Cusack became the first libero/DS in school history to earn All-America recognition and Rivers garnered a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
The Gators' practice schedule will see them in the gym from Monday-Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET as the spring progresses. The team has a scheduled off day on Thursday, Feb. 28, as well as the week of spring break (March 10-14).
Florida will kick off its spring competition season against Florida State on March 1 before taking a three-week hiatus. The Orange and Blue will resume play against Miami (Fla.) and Georgia Tech on March 29 and April 5, respectively, and will conclude the spring season by hosting the inaugural SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championships on April 12.
Practices and competitions are open to the public.
