Details of the University of Florida volleyball team's spring play date with Georgia Tech on April 5 were released Thursday afternoon.
Competition will be held at O'Keefe Gymnasium beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, with the Gators and Yellow Jackets squaring off for three 25-point sets in the first session. The teams will take a short break following the completion of the opening phase, and will meet again in the early afternoon for another three-set contest.
UF split with in-state foe Miami in its last spring outing, as rising redshirt freshman outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel (Littleton, Colo.) again led the Florida offense with 23 kills on the day. The Gators also chalked up 14 total blocks on the day, behind eight rejections from rising senior middle blocker Kelsey Bowers (Gainesville, Fla.), and torched the 'Canes for 10 aces in two three-set matches.
UF's final home date of the spring season will be the inaugural SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championships on April 12. The all-day event, which is free and open to the public, will be the first beach volleyball tournament ever hosted by a Division I conference. The action will commence with pool play at 8:30 a.m. ET, with the medal matches slated to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
