VB's McCray Collects NSCA All-America Honors

Former University of Florida volleyball standout Amber McCray (Longview, Texas) was awarded the third All-America honor of her career on Tuesday when the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) named her one of its Athletes of the Year.
In its 29th year, the NSCA All-America Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award recognizes student-athletes' dedication to strength training and conditioning. McCray was one of 27 volleyball players chosen among the 239 athletes honored this year, and the only Southeastern Conference volleyball representative on the list. She is the second player from the group of four Gators who completed their eligibility in 2007 to earn the acclaim, as middle blocker Kisya Killingsworth (Deltona, Fla.) was selected in 2005.
Florida's all-time leader in hitting percentage by an opposite hitter (.351), McCray was named a second-team All-American by both the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and Volleyball Magazine in 2006.
The NSCA All-America accolade is just the latest accomplishment in a prolific year for McCray, both on and off the court. She averaged 3.24 kills per game, good for second on the team, en route to capturing first-team All-SEC honors for the second year a row, while also becoming just the 16th player in school history to record 1,000 kills in her career. She was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III first-team and Academic All-America second-team selection, and also earned a spot on the SEC Volleyball Community Service Team.
