Florida Track and Field Notebook - Aug. 25
Monday, August 25, 2008 | Track and Field
The track and field athletes begin individual training on Sept. 2, while the school's cross country athletes start practice on Aug. 27. According to head coach Mike Holloway, the Gators have reported to campus with an unmatched level of excitement.
“We're very excited to have everyone here and healthy,” Holloway said. “They started classes today and the buzz and excitement here is like we've never had before. Everyone is enthusiastic and I am equally as enthusiastic to start the season. This gives them an opportunity to get acclimated to classes, learn their schedules and get to know their teachers.”
The Florida women's team is coming off a ninth-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships, while the men's team finished 15th nationally during the outdoor season. Both squads, which posted their best outdoor finishes since the 2005 campaign, finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past March.
