W-Tennis Ends Run at Riviera/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying Event

The University of Florida women's tennis team completed play in the pre-qualifying singles and doubles draws of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Saturday held at Pepperdine's Ralph's-Straus Tennis Center.
Freshman Jo Mather (Duluth, Ga.) dropped her first round singles match to Texas' Stephanie Davison, 6-4, 6-2. Mather later paired with Gator teammate Anastasia Revzina (Russia) in the doubles event, but the Florida tandem fell to TCU's Nina Munch-Soegaard and Maria Babanova, 8-5, in their opening contest.
While Mather's run in the prestigious national tournament came to an end, Revzina's continues on Tuesday, when she returns to the court to compete in the qualifying singles draw.
Qualifying competition for the Riviera/ITA All-American begins September 30 and played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., with the main draw getting underway on October 2nd.
Revzina, Megan Alexander (Dallas, Texas) and Marrit Boonstra (Netherlands) earned a spot in the 64-player singles qualifying draw. On the strength of their regional and national ranking, sixth-ranked Alexander and Boonstra received an automatic spot in the 16-team doubles main draw.
