BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The SEC announced its 2026 women's tennis postseason awards today, and league coaches named Florida's India Houghton to the All-SEC Second Team, and Brooke Black to the All-Freshman Team.
India Houghton
Houghton joined the Gators in the fall after a four-year career at Stanford. After recovering from an injury throughout the fall, the Tiburon, Calif. Native saw the court for the first time for Florida in January.Originally slotted in at number three singles, Houghton worked her way up the depth chart and became the Gators' number one singles player at the beginning of March. she received her first national singles ranking on March 3 when she was No. 103 in the country, and she moved up to No. 44 in the nation in the days preceding the conference tournament thanks to wins over the Nos. 6, 12, and 18 players in the country.
On the doubles side of the ledger, Houghton has teamed up primarily with freshman Lucie Pawlak in the number three spot, where they have a team-best 8-4 mark in conference play, recording a five-match winning streak during the month of March.
Brooke Black
Black committed to the Gators as a freshman late in the fall, and saw her first action for Florida in January of this year. Her 10 dual match singles victories and her seven SEC wins are both second on the team, and led to her being ranked as high as No. 123 in the nation. Black recorded a seven-match winning streak from February 13-March 14, and she was leading in her two unfinished matches during that stretch.
In doubles, the London native has teamed up primarily with Valery Gynina in the number two spot where they recently earned their first national ranking, and are now No. 41 in the country. Their 10 wins as a tandem during the spring season are tops on the squad. Their most significant victories have come over the last two weeks as they bested the 10th and 19th ranked teams in the nation.
