Cusack Named to NCAA All-Region Team
Monday, December 14, 2009 | Volleyball
Senior Florida libero Elyse Cusack (Melrose, Fla.) was named to the NCAA's seven-person All-Gainesville Region Team for her stellar play during the course of the team's three NCAA Tournament matches in 2009.
Cusack capped a magnificent Florida career with the Gators' first all-region team honors since Amber McCray was named to the All-Region Team of the Gainesville Regional in 2007.
Cusack finished her career as the Southeastern Conference's all-time career digs leader with 2,138 career scoops. She is the school's all-time career digs leader, recording double-figure dig totals in 115 of her 123 career matches.
Cusack is a two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-America selection and a three-time AVCA All-South Region selection. She was a 13-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year selection, having won the award more times than any other player in league history.
Over the course of the 2009 NCAA Tournament, Cusack averaged 5.11 digs per set, breaking the all-time SEC digs record during Friday's season-ending loss to No. 1 Penn State.
