Florida Track and Field Well-Represented on All-SEC Teams

Florida track and field athletes on Monday earned 12 spots on the All-Southeastern Conference First and Second Teams and nine slots on the All-Freshman team, as the league offices in Birmingham, Ala., announced the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field Honors.
The All-SEC first team consists of the SEC individual event champions from the 2009 SEC Outdoor Championships. Florida athletes on the All-SEC first team include: Evelien Dekkers (javelin), Jeff Demps (4x100m), Jeremy Hall (200m, 4x100m), Gray Horn (decathlon), Mariam Kevkhishvili (shot put), Genevieve LaCaze (steeplechase), Shara Proctor (long jump, triple jump), Calvin Smith (400m, 4x100m) and Terrell Wilks (4x100m).
The All-SEC second team is comprised of SEC individual event runners-up from the 2009 SEC Outdoor Championships. An athlete is not included on the second team if he or she is already a first-team member. Gators on the All-SEC second team include: Charlotte Browning (1,500m), Keely Medeiros (shot put) and Julie Northrup (steeplechase).
The SEC All-Freshman Team consists of the top-finishing freshman in each event at the 2009 SEC Outdoor Championships. Florida athletes on the All-Freshman Team include: Madara Apine (triple jump), Ben Davies (javelin), Gray Horn (decathlon) Genevieve LaCaze (5,000m and steeplechase), Keely Medeiros (shot put), Madison McNary (200m), Alishea Usery (400m) and William Wynne (400m IH).
Florida returns to action this Friday and Saturday, when it travels to Greensboro, N.C., to participate in the 2009 NCAA East Regional hosted by North Carolina A&T University.
