Seven Gators Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Seven University of Florida track and field athletes have been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's list of 2009 All-Academic Team, the New Orleans-based organization announced.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in his/her respective event.
Florida student-athletes named to the list include: Evelien Dekkers (Etten Leur, Netherlands), Laura Garrow (Port Orange, Fla.), Lauren Menke (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Natalie Moser (Tampa, Fla.), Sara Petrick (Apollo Beach, Fla.), Star Sansone (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Kaitlin Shiver (Satellite Beach, Fla.).
A record total of 531 student-athletes representing were named to the 2009 women's Division I All-Academic Track and Field team. The Southeastern Conference was third in overall conference honors with 48 women's student-athletes earning All-Academic recognition.
