AUDIO: Coach Wise discussing the ESPNU coverage of volleyball The University of Florida volleyball team will have two matches televised in prime time on ESPNU during the 2009 season, it was announced Thursday.
As part of a five-match Southeastern Conference broadcast schedule by ESPNU during the 2009 campaign, the network will broadcast Florida at South Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 7 and Florida at LSU on Sunday, Oct. 11. Both of those matches will air at 7 p.m. ET.
The SEC is entering a new era with its unprecedented television agreement in conjunction with ESPN and this will mark the first time SEC volleyball will be featured on ESPNU in a regular lineup.
"I think this is easily one of the best things to have happened to SEC Volleyball," Florida head coach Mary Wise said. "The exposure that ESPN provides not only around the country but, arguably around the world, elevates our league to another level. When the Commissioner came in and met with the coaches last January before this was finalized, he indicated that we were about to see something new and special for the sport of volleyball, and this certainly is."
In addition to the ESPNU schedule, the league will announce more television appearances for the two sports in the upcoming days, expanding its coverage by almost triple than that of previous years.
