Former Gator Hazel Clark Comes Up Just Short at World Championships
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 | Track and Field
Former University of Florida track and field standout Hazel Clark ran a season-best time of 1:59.96 in the semifinals of the 800-meter run on Tuesday at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, but came up just short of advancing to the event's finals.
The top two times from each of the three semifinal heats automatically advanced to the finals with the next two fastest times also qualifying. Clark finished fourth in her heat and had the third-fastest remaining time to just miss a trip to the finals.
On Tuesday, former Gators Kerron Clement (m-400mH) and Novlene Williams-Mills (w-400m) will compete in the finals of their respective events at the IAAF World Championships.
