Gators Go GREEN Night
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 | Volleyball
The No. 5/5 Florida volleyball team will play host to Gators GO GREEN Night on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
In coordination with the Alachua County Library, fans can donate two like-new children's books and receive free admission to the match. All books will be donated locally to the United Way's Success By Six program.
Also, in conjunction with the University of Florida's Office of Sustainability and Neutral Gator, fans will learn how to go green and reduce their Carbon Footprint. All fans are encouraged to take alternative transportation to the match. The first 100 fans that ride their bikes to the match will receive a Gator reusable shopping bag.
For more information on these efforts and to learn how Neutral Gator is helping offset the 2009-2010 athletic season's carbon footprint, log on to NeutralGator.org or Sustainable.ufl.edu. Fans will also have the opportunity to learn more about both these programs at the “Green Hut” and Neutral Gator's informational table.
As part of these efforts, Publix will be handing out Reusable Shopping Bags to the first 1,000 fans. They will also hand out information on Green initiatives courtesy of Publix Supermarkets.
Friday's match also is Alachua and Newberry Night. All residents of those two cities who present a valid driver's license with a residential address from one of those two cities at the marketing table outside Gate 1 will receive a free admission pass into the match. Children 17 and under receive free admission to all regular-season home matches.
Additionally, all UF Alumni Association members can show their membership cards at the turnstile for free admission into the match. The first 500 members receive a free soda. Stop by the marketing table across from Gate 1 concessions to pick up your soda coupon.
