Couple of interesting notes revolving around this tournament. The Gators are playing in Stockton, the hometown of former Gator setter Lauren Moscovic, a member of the 2003 team that advanced to the NCAA National Championship match. Also nearby is Lodi, Calif., home of former Gator Jenni Keene.
There's an article in today's Record, the local newspaper in San Joaquin County, previewing the tournament. The article, written by Jagdip Dhillon, is available by clicking here.

GATORS VS. THE RANKED – Friday, September 4, 2009 – 9:51 a.m. PT
No. 11/12 Stanford will be the first ranked team that the Gators will face during the 2009 season. Florida went 3-3 in 2008 against teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll at the time of the match.
Stanford has been ranked on each of the previous five occasions that the Gators and Cardinals have met, however, Florida has twice defeated Stanford when it was a top-five team. UF's 3-0 win against the Cardinal on Sept. 1, 2002 in the O'Connell Center came when Stanford was ranked No. 1 in the nation.
The Gators are 91-74 (.551) all-time vs. teams ranked in the AVCA Top-25 at the time of the match.
