Lacroix To Compete In USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 | Men's Tennis
Florida men's tennis senior Alexandre Lacroix (Paris, France) is set to compete in the 32-player singles draw at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y., at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center's Indoor Building Nov. 4-7.
Lacroix gained entry into the tournament based on his quarterfinal appearance in this fall's other national individual championships, the ITA All-American held in Tulsa, Okla., in October. This will mark Lacroix's sixth appearance in a national individual tournament. His quarterfinal appearance at the ITA All-American matched his previous best finish in a national event, having reached the same round in the 2009 ITA All-American, as well.
The Gator senior is currently ranked ninth in the nation and won September's Napa Valley Classic in St. Helena, Calif., which featured competitors from six different schools, all of which finished in the top 20 nationally last spring. In 2009's national ITA Indoors event, Lacroix fell in the opening round before rebounding to take four straight matches to win the consolation draw.
While Lacroix competes in the national event, several other Gators will be participating in the Texas Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas, Nov. 5-7.
