
Florida State Advances to NCAA Second Round

Florida State junior Visnja Djurdjevic recorded a match-high 16 kills to lead the Seminoles to 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 25-13) win over the Georgia Southern Eagles Friday night in the first round of the NCAA tournament at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Florida State (22-10), which finished the season fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference, hit .263 on the match, limiting Georgia Southern (27-9) to a .215 hitting efficiency.
Florida State senior Stephanie Neville charted 14 kills on a .294 hitting percentage in the hard-fought win, while sophomore Duygu Duzceler posted a team-high 31 assists.
Georgia Southern junior Bethany Sanford led the Eagles with a team-high 15 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore Kate Van Dyke turned in with a match-high 42 assists.
Florida State advances to the NCAA second round to face the winner or the Florida/ South Carolina State match, scheduled to be played at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The second-round match will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.
