University of Florida freshman Allie Will (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named to the 2010 ITA All-Tournament Team for ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships, which was announced on Thursday.
This is the second annual ITA National Women's Team Indoor All-Tournament Team. Voters for the team included the 16 participating coaches and the ITA National Ranking Committee.
The Gator rookie went 3-0 on the singles court playing the No. 2 position during the three dual match at the event, where she defeated a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. She gutted out a hard-fought 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 victory against Northwestern's Samantha Murray that tied the team score at 3-all versus the eventual ITA National Team Indoor Champion Wildcats.
Earlier in that match against the No. 3 and second-seeded Wildcats in the quarterfinals of the National Team Indoors, Will teamed with senior Marrit Boonstra at the No. 1 position and defeated the Wildcat pair of Lui and Chernvakova, 8-3, that helped UF win the doubles point. Will and Boonstra also provided the clinching doubles point win in the Round of 16 match at the NTI against Michigan, which UF won 5-2.
The Gator rookie improved her overall singles record to a team-best 27-3 this season, including a 20-4 doubles mark. In dual match play, Will is 7-0 in singles and 7-1 in doubles.
After playing four matches in seven days, Florida takes a much deserved break before returning to the court on Tue., Feb. 23, when the Gators take on in-state rival Florida State beginning at 5 p.m. from Linder Stadium at Ring Tennis Complex. Admission is free.
