Volleyball Releases 2010 Spring Schedule
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 | Volleyball
Four spring dates against high-level competition, highlighted by the second-annual Fiesta on Siesta Key, comprise the 2010 University of Florida spring volleyball schedule, head coach Mary Wise announced Wednesday.
"We're fortunate that NCAA rules still allow us to play four outside competitions in the spring,” Wise said. “If it were up to the players, I'm sure they would want to play twice as many dates. We'll use these opportunities to gauge the progress we've made thus far.”
The Gators open their 2010 spring schedule this Saturday at a tournament hosted by Duke University. Florida will square off with Atlantic Coast Conference foes Duke (10:15 a.m.) and North Carolina (11:30 a.m.), before closing the day with a match-up against BIG EAST Conference member Pittsburgh (1:30 p.m.).
Florida will host its lone home event of the 2010 spring schedule on Saturday, March 27 against South Florida. Details of that event will be released closer to time.
The Gators will then travel to Tallahassee, Fla., on April 10 to face ACC members Florida State, a 2009 NCAA Elite Eight team, and Georgia Tech.
Florida closes out its spring schedule at the second-annual Fiesta on Siesta Key sand volleyball tournament in Siesta Key, Fla., with play beginning at 10 a.m. April 17. One of the largest collegiate beach tournaments ever held, the Fiesta will feature teams from across the country, representing a number of major conferences.
