Gators Headed to Last Chance Meets This Weekend

The University of Florida track and field team will send athletes to a pair of last-chance meets this weekend, looking to advance more qualifiers to the upcoming NCAA Indoor Championships to be hosted by the University of Arkansas at its Randal Tyson Track Center March 12-13.
Split squads will travel to the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., Friday and Saturday, and the Virginia Tech Qualifier on Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.
The women's distance medley relay will look to improve on its season-best time and qualify for the upcoming NCAA Championships when it competes at 8:45 p.m. ET Friday at the Alex Wilson Invitational. The quartet will consist of Stacey Johnson (Lichfield, England), Ashley Usery (St. Louis, Mo.), Lanie Whittaker (Miami, Fla.) and Charlotte Browning (Pullborough, England).
On Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational, Alishea Usery (St. Louis, Mo.) will participate in the 60-meter dash at 12:15 p.m. ET and fellow sprinter Lanie Whittaker (Miami, Fla.) will participate in the 400-meter dash at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Milers Johnson and Genevieve LaCaze (Queensland, Australia) will each attempt to qualify in the women's mile at 2:30 p.m. ET, while Justin Taylor (St. Augustine, Fla.) will participate in the men's mile at 2:50 p.m. ET. The women's 4x400-meter relay team, which has already this season posted its fastest time since 2005, will run at 3:10 p.m. ET. The quartet will consist of Alishea Usery, Danielle Williams (Jacksonville, Fla.), Whittaker and Ije Iheoma (Holland, Pa.).
Sophomore jumper Christian Taylor (Fayetteville, Ga.), already an NCAA automatic-qualifier in the men's triple jump, will attempt to do the same in the men's long jump on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET at the Virginia Tech Qualifier. Sophomore thrower Keely Medeiros (Luziana, Brazil) will compete in the women's shot put at the same time.
Sprinters Jeremy Hall (Jacksonville, Fla.), Chris Rainey (Lakeland, Fla.), Jeremy Rankin (Aurora, Colo.) and Terrell Wilks (New Haven, Conn.) will compete in the men's 60-meter dash on Saturday at 12:40 p.m. ET at the Virginia Tech Qualifier.
